About

Hello! I’m Marissa, a designer in San Francisco. I’m currently the Design Director at Rakuten, where I lead a team of designers helping to shape and promote the brand. I was born in Seattle, studied Art History in college, and moved to New York to study design at Parsons. My career began at Landor in New York before moving to the San Francisco office, where I acted as part of the global marketing team—designing for the design agency. I then joined LendingClub as the second member of the brand team and helped grow it into a full-service internal brand agency.

My favorite projects are those in which I get to bring a campaign to life across every possible platform. I love brand guidelines and a tight color palette. I’m just as happy managing and mentoring designers as I am designing and scaling-out assets.

In my spare time, I enjoy trying and abandoning various craft projects, attempting to lift heavy weights, traveling, eating pastries, and greeting strangers’ dogs.
